In operations research, decision-making is done with a completely scientific approach that is based on a combination of quantitative methods and analysis of these methods. In this approach, a scientific model of the system is developed and along with it, factors such as chance and risk are measured to determine the consequences of decisions. The consequences of decisions resulting from the scientific model of the system enable managers to make their decisions. Therefore, the purpose of operations research is to help management determine policies and actions scientifically. Among the characteristics of operations research, we can mention its effectiveness in dealing with complex problems in various sectors such as industry, trade, government and defense, which tries to guide and manage large systems that include people, machines, materials and money. Since operations research is effective in strategic issues, it can be used in political science. Because the goal of political science is the systematic study of governance using empirical and generally scientific methods of analysis that examines governments, their related organizations, and institutions, which includes the study of all social, cultural, and psychological factors. پژوهش عملیاتی جزو ابزارهای قدرتمند تصمیم‏ گیری می‏باشد. در پژوهش عملیاتی، با رویکردی کاملا علمی که بر مبنای ترکیب روش‏ های کمی و تجزیه و تحلیل این روش‏ ها استوار است، تصمیم ‏گیری انجام می ‏پذیرد. در این رویکرد، مدلی علمی از سیستم توسعه می‏یابد و به همراه آن، عواملی مانند شانس و خطر (ریسک) اندازه‏ گیری می‏ گردند تا پیامدهای تصمیمات تعیین گردند. پیامدهای تصمیمات منتج از مدل علمی سیستم، مدیران را قادر می‏ سازد تا تصمیمات خود را اتخاذ می ‏نمایند. بنابراین، هدف از پژوهش عملیات، کمک به مدیریت در تعیین سیاست‌ها و اقدامات به صورت علمی است. از ویژگی‏ های پژوهش عملیات می‏توان به کارایی آن در مواجهه با مسائل پیچیده بخش ‏های مختلف همانند صنعت، تجارت، دولت و دفاع اشاره نمود که سعی در هدایت و مدیریت سیستم‌های بزرگ که شامل انسان، ماشین، مواد و پول دارد. از آنجا که پژوهش عملیات در مسائل استراتژیک کارایی دارد می‏ توان از آن در علوم سیاسی بهره گرفت. زیرا هدف از علوم سیاسی مطالعه سیستماتیک حکمرانی با استفاده از روش های تحلیل تجربی و عموماً علمی می باشد که به بررسی دولت ها، ارگان ها و نهادهای مرتبط با آن می پردازد که شامل مطالعات همه عوامل اجتماعی، فرهنگی و روانی است. /downloadfilepdf/965366
